“Fred Porphyrstein” volcano playground at the Röcknitz geoportal

Playground
sport and freetime

The highlight for all children after visiting the Röcknitz Geoportal is the freely accessible playground in a designed porphyry rock world and offers plenty of playing and climbing fun.

Fun playing and climbing on slides and swings, on climbing walls, in crawl tubes, with a tubeophone and a sundial...
With benches for resting and picnicking.

The volcano playground is located in the GeoErlebnisGarten, which invites you to discover the geological history of the Geopark Porphyrland in a playful way: climbing volcano, tertiary forest, glacier sculpture and porphyry tactile path are imaginatively designed and embedded in the gardens of the former manor house. Two buildings of the historic four-sided courtyard form the Geoportal Röcknitz - a visitor center in the Geopark Porphyrland with a focus on supervolcanism and ice ages.
