At the foot of Düben Castle, in the former moat, lies the Bergschiffmühle. In operation since the 17th century, it was often damaged by fires and floods and was repeatedly repaired and renewed; it is the last ship mill in Germany.
Since 2003, after extensive reconstruction, it has been restored to its original 1905 state. Now, the ravages of time continue to gnaw at such a historical object and it is waiting, among other things, for its broken shaft wheel to be repaired. Until it is reconstructed, it can only be viewed from the outside to a limited extent.
