The German Central Library for the Blind (DZB), which is now located at Gustav-Adolf-Straße 7, aims to expand educational opportunities for blind and visually impaired people.
Since its founding in 1894, the library has provided literature and other information in a suitable format. The German Central Library for the Blind in Leipzig is the oldest public library for the blind in Germany. The Braille library is as old as the German Central Library for the Blind in Leipzig itself and is the largest of its kind in Germany. The collection includes works of fiction, non-fiction and specialist literature, children's and young adult literature, and audio books. 16.200 books and magazine titles in Braille, more than 6.200 sheet music titles and music theory works, and almost 30.000 audio book titles can be borrowed here.
