The mill equipment, built in 1684, is still preserved in its original state and is fully functional.

The Ballendorf post mill was built in 1684. 150 years later, in 1834, it was knocked over by a thunderstorm and rebuilt in 1835. The mill was powered by wind power until 1953 and later, until 1973, by electricity. The mill's original equipment is still preserved and fully functional today.

The post mill can be visited after prior registration with the Klose family at the telephone number provided.

Arrival & Parking

By car: Follow the B2, then take the A72 and B176 to Bad Lausick. The destination is on the B176 just before the road to Linde.

By public transport: RB 113 or RE 6 to Bad Lausick, then take bus line 613 to the Ballendorf stop.
