The Ballendorf post mill was built in 1684. 150 years later, in 1834, it was knocked over by a thunderstorm and rebuilt in 1835. The mill was powered by wind power until 1953 and later, until 1973, by electricity. The mill's original equipment is still preserved and fully functional today.
