Schmannewitz post mill
The Schmannewitz post mill was built in 1879. The mill has been owned by the Pfund family since 1908. A bakery was also operated next to the mill. The bread baked here was sold in the town and the surrounding villages. In 1924 the mill was equipped with an electric motor, which made it possible to grind even when there was no wind. Around 8.000 hundredweight of grain, flour and grist were ground in the mill every year. The mill has been shut down since 1960. It is thanks to committed Schmannewitz local friends that the post mill has been preserved as a landmark. Those interested in finding out more about this mill can take part in a tour of the mill.
