Oberholz Botanical Garden
Maybe you have already walked through the "Oberholz" in Großpösna. But have you also visited the nearby botanical garden for medicinal and aromatic plants?
People who love nature will not only learn interesting facts about medicinal plants from the past and present in this green oasis, which was created in 1936 as a pharmacist's teaching garden, but will also be able to admire the diversity of the local flora and fauna. The display collection shows over 400 plants, both those still used homeopathically and those that are outdated, as well as various ornamental and potted plants. You can observe wild birds and insects and discover bird, bat and insect boxes on old trees. Children will especially enjoy the small animal zoo with dwarf rabbits and guinea pigs or the aviary with various parakeets. There are many ideas for your own garden, such as designing beds and ponds, creating a deadwood hedge and growing willows. You can also buy seeds, fresh or dried herbs, perennials, young plants, potted flowers and bouquets.
Guided tours on various topics are available in the garden upon request.
