Capa-Haus
The Capa House is located on the corner of Jahnallee in Lindenau, directly opposite the Clara Zetkin Park.
It is named after the then well-known war reporter and photographer Robert Capa.
When an American soldier was shot on the balcony of a corner house on April 18, 1945, Capa took a photo of this last casualty of the Second World War. The photograph was published on May 14, 1945 in Life magazine under the title “The Last Dead Man of the War”, which made the Capa House famous worldwide.
The building was constructed between 1909 and 1910 according to plans by the architects Otto Gerstenberger and Martin May. Today, the exhibition "War is Over" can be viewed there.
