The Rötha Town and Local History Association built this museum with the support of the town of Rötha. In the years since it opened in 2001, it has been gradually expanded, developed and completed and has become a central part of the cultural life of the town of Rötha.
The museum is designed to document, preserve and exhibit Rötha's local history. It houses an exhibition that shows the prehistoric and early history of the town of Rötha and its residents almost up to the present day.
