The town and museum house in the heart of Waldheim offers information, history and art in permanent and special exhibitions on three floors.
The town and museum house was reopened in 2017. On the ground floor there is the town information office and a small winter garden for all kinds of events and museum educational offers.
One floor above, the Georg Kolbe collection is presented in three rooms, with portrait busts and small sculptures made of bronze, terracotta and cast stone, an oil painting by his daughter Leonore and movement studies by the Waldheim-born artist.
In the attic, on the old wool floor, the 'Waldheim town history(ies)' are presented interactively in oversized suitcases. Five exciting themed areas lead into Waldheim's past and bring regional history(ies) to life: the cloth-making trade and guild history, the development of the Florena brand, industrialization in Waldheim, the history of the Waldheim prison, and Waldheim artists and scholars.
Changing exhibitions of modern art are presented on the 'Art Staircase', and in the special exhibition room there are regular new and old things to discover about Waldheim and Saxony.
The event series 'History(ies) in the Museum House' and special tours invite you to spend many interesting, amusing and/or thoughtful hours in Haus Waldheim.
