The master violin maker Klaus Ludwig Clement has been based in Leipzig with his new workshop since 2010 - in the neighborhood and symbiosis with the oldest music publisher still in existence in Leipzig, the Friedrich Hofmeister Music Publishing House. Violins, violas and cellos - they are all made exclusively by hand here, following the example of old masters. They are commissioned by professional musicians, primarily from Asia and America. String instruments are also built for music students and ambitious amateurs. Their special feature is the unique sound characteristics, based on historical knowledge of violin making, craftsmanship and modern innovative technology. The quality of the varnish is also special, and Klaus Ludwig Clement's expertise in varnish on string instruments is recognized and in demand worldwide. The master uses only natural materials for varnishes and glue components as well as old, naturally dried wood.                                   

The violin maker is based in a stately Wilhelminian building, right next to the Hofmeister music publishing house. This was founded in 1807 and has been run by the family to this day - since 1998 by the violin master's wife, Stefanie Clement. Since its founding, the publishing house has included works by almost all the important composers of their time in its catalogue: among them Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Anton Hoffmeister, Carl Maria von Weber, Frédéric Chopin, Anton Dvorák, Franz Liszt, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy and Clara Wieck.

Music publishers and violin makers visit the world's most important music fairs together to speak to customers, with great success. The resulting synergies combine the successful model of craftsmanship and publishing. Guided tours, instrument demonstrations and lectures are available. Advance registration is requested.
