Under the DaWitt label, the artist creates extraordinary accessories, clothing and works of art. Quilting is an ancient craft that is (again) enjoying great popularity in this country. The patchwork quilting technique in particular enables particularly creative designs. It consists of three layers: the quilt top, sewn together from scraps of fabric using the patchwork technique, a fleece and a backing fabric. These are all connected to one another with artistic seams - "quilted". Daniela Witt uses only materials such as discarded clothing, denim, embroidery, parasols, shopping bags, etc. to make the quilts, thus ensuring sustainability. Finished quilts can be purchased in her studio in the Leipzig district of Plagwitz, but she is particularly popular with commissioned work: baby clothes are brought in, from which she makes a cozy blanket. Sports shirts are turned into cool wall hangings, or old jeans and cotton pieces are turned into a unique jacket. Anyone who likes can get an insight into this craft in a quilting course and make their own individual accessory.
