Scheibe organ in the Nikolaikirche Zschortau

Johann Scheibe (around 1675 - 1748), probably born in Zschortau, was also the university organ builder in Leipzig from 1710 until his death in 1748. From 1744 to 46 he built the organ in Zschortau on behalf of the patron Heinrich August Sahrer von Sahr. I/13. On August 7, 1746, JS Bach inspected the organ and found "everything to be efficient, diligent and well built". In 1870, the organ was moved to a second gallery and expanded with a second manual. In 1954, the second gallery was removed and the organ put back. In 2000, a fundamental restoration and reconstruction to its original state took place.
