Every year on the second weekend of Advent, the Christmas market in Leisnig, also known as the Leisnig Fairytale and Family Christmas, opens its doors. It is presented in the historic old town around the seven-meter-high pyramid and on the church square around the town church of St. Matthäi. Leisnig and foreign traders offer Christmas goods in the stalls. Concerts by the music school, the Leisnig women's choir and the Advent singing are just as much a part of the program as the daily visit from Santa Claus.
In addition, the town traditionally invites people to push the pyramid on the first Sunday of Advent (December 1st). Combined with a lantern parade, Christmas music from the Leisnig trombone choir, mulled wine and bratwurst, this will be a contemplative event.
