Experience the forest with all your senses - this is the motto under which the Forest Adventure Barn in the heath village of Taura welcomes children, young people and adults. Together with the forester, they go on a journey of discovery through the layers of the forest. The special attraction is a pine tree, which stands in the barn complete with roots, trunk and crown. The forest habitat can be explored from the root plate to the crown area. The aim is to awaken an understanding of the processes in nature and to make the interaction between people and the forest tangible and experienceable for everyone. The forest is not only a habitat for numerous animal and plant species that are waiting to be discovered, it is also important for the people who use it for hiking, cycling or other leisure activities.
Waltraude, the forest ant, is the mascot of the WaldErlebnisScheune and at the same time the symbolic guide on the educational and adventure trail "Forest Ant Road", an exciting route with various stations. Not only can you discover the forest ant and its impressive structures, but you can also learn how people used the forest in the past, what consequences this had for the forest and how this still affects the forest today. Here you can feel the rhythm of nature with all your senses.
