The former social building of master stonemason Gleisberg was built in 1936 with a lounge, cloakroom, drying room and 68 seats. In 2014 it was reopened as the Geoportal Porphyrhaus for geotourism offers. From April to October (Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 15 p.m.) it serves as a visitor and information center of the "Rochlitzer Muldental" tourist information center, is a geoportal of the National Geopark Porphyrland, Stone Kingdom in Saxony, "Green Classroom" and exhibition venue.
Virtual reality allows you to "leap back in time" into the fascinating, 60-meter-deep Gleisberg quarry, where you can get your hands on the rock yourself. The VR glasses can be used as part of guided tours and during the opening hours of the Geoportal Porphyrhaus.
