The history of the city of Leipzig is anchored in the City History Museum and is presented using contemporary evidence at various locations.
The Leipzig City History Museum collects and preserves important evidence of Leipzig's city history and presents it in the Old Town Hall on the market square and the neighboring house in Böttchergäßchen. The Children's Museum is also located here.
The Old Town Hall is a landmark of the city of Leipzig and is one of the most beautiful Renaissance buildings in Germany. Visitors can discover the preserved remains of the old prison cells in the basement, the historic rooms on the main floor and the town hall tower.

In the Children's Museum "Museum is fun" discover children within the experience exhibition "Children make fair" the living history of the Leipzig Trade Fair. Numerous interactive stations invite children to a journey through time, where they from verkleiden can and with old currency You can exchange and sell goods. There are also creative offeringswhere stamping, tracing and embossing can take place.
The City History Museum also includes the Monument to the Battle of the Nations, the FORUM 1813 as a museum dedicated to the Battle of the Nations, the Schiller House in Leipzig-Gohlis, the Sports Museum, the Old Stock Exchange and the Museum of the Arabic Coffee Tree.
