The history of the city of Leipzig is anchored in the City History Museum and is presented using contemporary evidence at various locations.The Leipzig City History Museum collects and preserves important evidence of Leipzig's city history and presents it in the Old Town Hall on the market square and the neighboring house in Böttchergäßchen. The Children's Museum is also located here.
The Old Town Hall is a landmark of the city of Leipzig and is one of the most beautiful Renaissance buildings in Germany. Visitors can discover the preserved remains of the old prison cells in the basement, the historic rooms on the main floor and the town hall tower.
