The Bach Competition Leipzig is an international music competition for young up-and-coming talents.
The Bach Competition Leipzig is one of the world's most prestigious competitions for young classical musicians. Named after Johann Sebastian Bach, who served as Thomaskantor in Leipzig from 1723 to 1750, this international competition, first held in 1950, represents outstanding musical achievements of the highest caliber.

Since 2025, the Leipzig Bach Competition has been held annually in March, with different categories each year. The focus is on exploring the works of the famous Thomaskantor (director of music at St. Thomas Church). Participants from around the world showcase their talent before an international jury and an enthusiastic audience. The competition rounds take place at renowned Leipzig venues such as St. Thomas Church and St. Luther Church. The highlight is the final, followed by the awards ceremony on March 21, Johann Sebastian Bach's birthday. The final concert is broadcast worldwide via livestream.
