South of Leipzig is the Markkleeberg Canoe Park - Germany's unique attraction for whitewater fun.
In the Markkleeberg canoe park, adventurers can experience the power of water first hand! Wildwater Rafting Every visitor aged 12 and over can plunge into the water in an inflatable boat.

All equipment, from neoprene suits to life jackets and safety helmets, will be provided on-site. After a briefing, you'll practice paddling in the finish pool, and then the whitewater adventure begins. As a team, you'll tackle the rapids and rollers of the canoe park—adrenaline rush included!

For those who prefer something a little quieter, the canoe park has a dragon boat, a team canoe and a boat rental shop next door. There is a playground for younger visitors and there is also food and drink available. The KANU whitewater terrace invites you to enjoy a refreshment with a view of Lake Markkleeberg. In addition to recreational sports, the canoe park also hosts exciting events such as the XXL paddling festival and top-class canoe slalom competitions.

Opening hours

The 2026 season begins in May.

The canoe park is open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 16 pm and Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from 10 am to 18 pm.

Arrival & Parking

By public transport: From Leipzig Central Station, take tram line 15 to the Leipzig, Probstheida stop. From the Leipzig, Probstheida stop, take bus line 141 to the Auenhain (Markkleeberg), Seepark stop.

By car: Take the B2/B95 to the Markkleeberg exit. Drive towards Markkleeberg-Ost or Wachau (follow the signs for "Markkleeberger See" and "Kanupark"). Alternatively, take the A38 to the Leipzig-Südost exit and follow the local signs towards Markkleeberg/Auenhain/Kanupark. Paid parking is available above and south of the canoe park.
