The Kretschmanns Hof commercial building, completed in 1912, was restored in accordance with monument preservation requirements in 2010. For this purpose, the passage was given a glass roof that visually integrates into the spacious, white-tiled courtyard.
A passageway connects it to the "Blue and Golden Star" house and its rectangular courtyard, and serves as a direct shortcut to Hainstrasse. Since the restoration work was completed, the "Leipziger Pfeffermühle" cabaret has also been based in the catacombs of Kretschmann's courtyard.
