The KulturKino Zwenkau, which has an outstanding architectural significance in the townscape of Zwenkau, is a platform for a variety of events with a focus on cinema, theater, concerts, courses and workshops.
It has a long history, both as a cinema and as a cultural center. In 1927, the building was built as a cinema in the Art Deco style. In the 1970s, it was converted into a cultural center, which is how the building operated until it closed in 1990. In 2003, committed citizens of Zwenkau and Leipzig joined forces to form the "kulturinitiative zwenkau eV" association and designed a new usage concept. They were able to save the building from demolition. From 2015 to 2017, the building was renovated in accordance with monument preservation principles.
Today, the KulturKino Zwenkau once again regularly hosts film screenings, concerts and theater performances. A particular highlight is the 50 square meter screen with special rolling technology - a Saxon invention that can only be found in a few cinemas.
During the events, drinks and small snacks are available at the bar.
