Buch Monastery
By 1250, all buildings had been built, as well as a wall to protect the monastery, of which remnants still remain today. The chapter house and the abbot's house with infirmary and sick chapel are completely preserved. The ruins of the former brewery and the neccessarium - a monk's toilet - can also be admired. As in every Cistercian monastery, hard work and obedience were part of daily life here, but so were choral prayers and singing. Today, the historic walls of the monastery, located in the idyllic Mulde landscape, are a magnet for many visitors.
