The Taucha Municipal Museum was founded in 1926 and was housed in what was then the “Am Schmiedehöfchen” hospital. Due to the difficult economic situation, local history exhibitions could only be shown at intervals.
The museum was opened in conjunction with the first local festival “Tauchscher” on September 03.09.1933, 24. Several moves were necessary until the museum and its collection found a home in one of the oldest town houses in the city - a former brewery at Brauhausstrasse XNUMX.
In 1977, the building was added to the district monument list and 10 years later it was blocked and closed by the State Building Inspectorate due to its structural condition. Since 1990, extensive reconstruction measures have been carried out in accordance with the requirements of monument protection, which were completed in 1995.
The museum, which includes a children's library and a museum restaurant, was opened in May 1995. Constantly changing exhibitions with a local history character as well as numerous special exhibitions offer visitors a varied spectrum.
