Since 1974, the museum has been housed in the historic Reichstor - the city's last remaining city gate. It brings together a wide range of topics such as the Reformation period, brown coal mining, musical instrument making, traditional field gardening and the Royal Saxon Carabinier Regiment under one roof. Archaeological treasures from prehistoric and early history can also be discovered here. A special highlight is the climb up the tower: the tower keeper's room not only offers exciting insights into times gone by, but also a view over the roofs of the city center.
Twice a year, the museum hosts changing special exhibitions that highlight exciting facets of Borna's city and regional history. With interactive hands-on stations, the visit becomes an active and creative experience for young and old alike, bringing history to life.
