The Grassi Museum, which is part of the university, shows you how instrument makers searched for the perfect sound from the 16th century onwards. The impressive craftsmanship and artistic skills can be experienced through around 5.000 treasures. This means that the Grassi Museum has one of the largest collections of European musical instrument making.The most important exhibits include the oldest dated clavichord (1543) and the oldest fortepiano in the world preserved in its original condition (1726). You can also try out some of the instruments yourself in the museum's sound laboratory.
