observation tower at the Taucha city park

lookout point/tower
The city park in Taucha, formerly the King Albert Park, is an oasis for relaxation with various sights.
As early as 1905, the Taucha city council decided to erect an observation tower in the "King Albert Park" (today's city park). It took a few more years until it could be ceremonially inaugurated in May 1913 – as the "crowning glory" of the park, standing at a height of 143 meters.

Despite renovations carried out over the decades, the tower was in poor condition by the early 1990s. Therefore, extensive construction work was undertaken, particularly in 1994 and 1995, which restored the observation tower to its former glory. It was reopened in September 1995 as part of Taucha's 825th anniversary celebrations.

The tower is 22 meters high and 99 steps must be climbed before one can enjoy the view over the surrounding area.
