On the Trail of the Battle of the Nations in Leipzig in 1813
There are numerous clubs around the world whose members use events and publications to raise awareness of the Battle of the Nations in 1813. In 2013, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary, various events were held in and around Leipzig to commemorate the Battle of the Nations in Leipzig. A wide variety of club members and guests from home and abroad have taken up residence in our Wachau guesthouse, Völkerschlacht 1813, in order to be able to attend the various celebrations. But not just since 2013; our employees have been welcoming guests from near and far all the time. And not without reason, because our guesthouse is located on historical ground. Between October 16 and 19, 1813, fighting raged outside the gates of the city of Leipzig, around the Wachau manor house. It was the decisive Battle of the Nations in Leipzig, as a result of which the French emperor and general Napoleon lost his claim to European power.

The former Wachau manor has been the location of our Völkerschlacht 1991 guesthouse since 1813. The conversion of the former manor stables and the adjacent barn meant that the new seminar building with additional overnight rooms could be opened in 2006. The Battle of Leipzig was also a theme in the interior design of our guesthouse. In the reception area and in the hallways, paintings, maps of regimental and battle formations and photos of the battle were used as design elements to mark the 200th anniversary. In the new building, 16 rooms were also named after officers of the Battle of the Nations. Visitors can stay in the rooms of the French Marshal Oudinot, the French Cavalry General Kellermann or Napoleon's adjutant and brother-in-law J. Murat, among others. Our Völkerschlacht 1813 guesthouse has 29 double and single rooms, furnished with great attention to detail, with a total of 57 beds. The breakfast room is particularly lovingly furnished and offers visitors a beautiful view of the former manor park with its old trees, the monumental stone sarcophagus of the Quandt manor family from 1806 and the last historical “Leipzig Mill Gate”.

Given the immediate proximity to Lake Markkleeberg, which is located right outside the gates of the city of Leipzig, our Völkerschlacht 1813 guesthouse is an ideal starting point for a visit to Leipzig with its wide range of cultural and sporting activities, as well as the newly developing Leipzig New Lake District. A comprehensive service, such as organizing tours, bike rental or ticket sales, rounds off the existing offer for vacationers and guests. Curious?

The staff at Pension Völkerschlacht 1813 look forward to your visit. You are warmly welcomed at any time of year.
