Petershof (Petersstraße)
The "Zum Engel" inn once stood on the site of the Petershof. Johann Friedrich Böttger exhibited his porcelain in Leipzig for the first time here in 1710. In 1785, Friedrich Schiller lived in the Petershof. Between 1927 and 1929, the new building complex was built according to a design by the architect Alfred Liebig and was given its name when it opened because of its location on Petersstraße.
From 1929 to 2003, the Capitol cinema was housed in the basement and ground floor, after which the building was completely rebuilt. The listed facade on Petersstrasse and part of the atrium were preserved. The facade design of the Petershof is absolutely unique and features seven larger-than-life sculptures. They depict portraits of the people involved in the construction.
