Pittlerwerke

Once known for machine tool manufacturing, the Pittlerwerke in the northwestern Leipzig district of Wahren have now become a work of art in their own right. Renovation work in recent years has ensured that a large part of the building complex's rooms can be used again. Similar to the Baumwollspinnerei and the Kunstkraftwerk, contemporary artists from all over the world are approached and invited to the works as part of regular events.

From April 19 to July 9, 2023, the exhibition "DIMENSIONS - Digital Art ● since 1859" will enliven the 60 m² exhibition space of the Pittlerwerke with 10.000 works by international artists.

Digitalization has found its way into all areas of life, including art. Artists all over the world are creating new digital spaces and narratives. The DIMENSIONS exhibition shows that this is not a new trend, because art has always been shaped by new technology and used as a means of expression. Technological change is a constant in art history.

The Pittlerwerke, as a former industrial site, are themselves a testament to an era in which technological change revolutionized social life.
