Claudia Biehne creates extraordinary things in her porcelain studio on the grounds of the cotton spinning mill's art area. In the associated gallery, one stands in amazement in front of material structures that appear to have been taken from nature. Free objects and murals allow the viewer's imagination to run wild. Some are reminiscent of coral, others of heavy objects from the depths of the earth.
The artist achieves the highest level of translucency in her series of bowl-like treasures and lamps, into which she poetically inserts leaves and flowers and processes them in the most delicate way. All of these porcelain objects are made in a sophisticated manufacturing process, and with some of them it is hard to believe that they were created by hand.
It is therefore not surprising that Claudia Biehne, a native of Leipzig, is often present with her objects in various museum collections and has received international awards, for example at the renowned MINO competition in Japan.
In the studio, you can buy not only the larger art objects but also small, fine pieces for everyday use - all unique pieces. The artist is usually present in person and offers tours and insights into the respective creative process.
