Schauspiel Leipzig
The Schauspiel Leipzig sees itself as Leipzig's city theater. Aesthetic diversity as a response to the diversity that defines the city of Leipzig, concise directorial style, lively debates and numerous accompanying offers characterize the style of the house. Since 2013, artistic director Enrico Lübbe and his team have been implementing their concept of a progressive city theater, in line with the diversity and range of interests that can be experienced every day in Leipzig.
The theatre has three venues. The theatre's programme is characterised by scenic double surveys in which antiquity and the present are reflected and encountered, but the programme is also characterised by an examination of epochal classics and the debate on issues of the recent past.
The Diskothek venue is dedicated exclusively to contemporary drama and the sustainable promotion of young authors.
The Residenz (Castle in the center of Munich) in the old cotton spinning mill in Plagwitz has also established itself internationally as a co-production and event location for independently produced performative theatre.
For guests of the city and audiences with an international background, the Schauspiel Leipzig regularly offers performances with English subtitles.
