The Japanese House was founded in 2011 in the vacant premises of Eisenbahnstrasse 113b by a group of Japanese architects, artists, urban designers and students of Japanese studies at the University of Leipzig. The creators of the project wanted to create a meeting place for events and to convey Japanese culture. The idea quickly gained momentum and today the Japanese House is a popular meeting place in the east of Leipzig. Here, people cook, eat, discuss and learn together. Now it is no longer just about Japanese culture, but about the coexistence of people in the city in general. In the Japanese House, both neighbors and cultures meet.
