The Theaterpassage was created as a shortcut to the former New Theater on Augustusplatz (today's opera house) and connects Goethestrasse with Ritterstrasse. The narrow passage was integrated into the Krochhochhaus in 1927/1928, which was the first high-rise building in the city of Leipzig at the time.
Since then, the former bank building has formed the new eastern entrance to the passage and, with its eleven floors, is one of the many urban dominant features that shape the image of Augustusplatz.
