tower keeper's apartment of the city church St. Wenceslai Wurzen
The 52-meter-high tower of the St. Wenceslai Church in Wurzen, with its baroque dome from 1689, housed the tower keeper's apartment until 1911, which was set up on behalf of the city's authorities. It was both the workplace and residence of the city tower keeper and their families, who were responsible for the hourly chimes and the fire alarm.
160 steps lead up to the tower. The climb is always rewarded with a wonderful view over the roofs of Wurzen and a tour of the highest apartment in the city. Thanks to a lot of effort and donations, it was renovated, lovingly furnished almost true to the original and has been open to the public again since 1997.
