The municipality of Trossin, with an area of almost 80 km², is located in the southeastern part of the Düben Heath. The municipality includes the towns of Dahlenberg, Falkenberg with Hachemühle, Roitzsch and Trossin. With a total of 1360 inhabitants, the municipality of Trossin is one of the most sparsely populated municipalities in Saxony. An extensive and varied natural landscape characterizes the entire municipality. Visitors can best explore the region by bike or on foot. Whether it is the Dahlenberg reservoir, the Pressler heath forest and moorland area, the Fuchsberg with a panoramic view of the heath landscape or the pond landscapes of Trossin, the municipality offers an interesting nature experience for everyone. Each of the four small heath villages has its own flair.
The oldest village church with a half-timbered tower is located in Falkenberg. From the Fuchsberg - one of the highest hills in the municipality - you have a panoramic view of the entire heathland. The Ascension Day service of the Protestant parish takes place up here every year.
Dahlenberg is known for its natural swimming pool, the Dahlenberg reservoir. A nature trail leads around it, past the town's attractions, such as the neighboring beer fountain and the Hirtenborn, the village mill with its local history room and the village church. The anglers' home is also located by the village pond and is open to visitors on Saturday afternoons. The association's fishing ponds are an insider tip for anglers. The "Zur Hachemühle" forest hotel with a restaurant is idyllically located at the inlet of the reservoir, in the middle of a bungalow settlement. The forest hotel is often booked for family celebrations with overnight stays, while the beer garden by the mill ditch is particularly lively in the warmer seasons. A small water wheel turns here in place of the former mill.
The town of Roitzsch borders directly on the Presseler heath forest and moorland area. It can be seen from afar thanks to the high radio tower. The Luther and Torgische trail leads right through the town, past the village church, a village restaurant and the rest areas at Schafteich.
Trossin is characterized by the former manor house, now a beekeeping business and room rental, as well as the village pond in the middle of the village. Anglers have the opportunity to enjoy some leisurely fishing on its banks. Fishing permits are available from the “Eisvogel” eV fishing club.
It is worth visiting the historic village church with its colorful leaded glass windows and the historic cemetery. The political center of the community houses the community office, the daycare center, the fire department, the rescue service, and a local history room in one building complex. The local history room can be visited on request.
