From the Podelwitz moated castle, the route goes up to Collmen, a historic village ensemble with a wide view as far as Rochlitz. The Muldental hiking trail leads back down to the Mulde confluence - this is where the Zwickauer and Freiberger Mulde rivers flow together, a place full of peace and water experiences. The route takes you along the Zwickauer Mulde via a rest area with the so-called hydraulic ram to the Colditz Forest, a shady forest area rich in mushrooms. After the idyllic Kohlbachtal, you cross the Zwickauer Mulde a second time and reach the town of Colditz with its Renaissance castle, museum and "Schlosswächter" restaurant in front of the gates of Colditz Castle. The route then takes you through the Tiergarten, a natural park area, back up to Zschadrass, a historic clinic and psychiatric site from the Wilhelminian era with stately clinic buildings, a church and water tower and the unique dental museum. From there you can see the village of Collmen again and take the same route back to Podelwitz, where a restaurant on the Freiberger Mulde awaits you for a final stop.
