This cycle path accompanies cyclists for over 80 kilometers from Leipzig to the Elbe. Numerous windmills, old castles and village churches worth seeing line the route. Particularly attractive are the sections of the route that lead cyclists through the Dahlener Heide, where woodland alternates with idyllically situated ponds.

The Elbe cycle path is the most popular in Germany. Of course, you can also get there from Leipzig - on a cycle path that is more of an insider tip, but can certainly hold its own against its big brother. Village and rural idylls alternate along the route, with meadows, forests, ponds and river meadows dominating the landscape.
In between, the landscape park of Machern Castle, which Carl Graf von Lindenau had laid out in 1782, provides variety, as do numerous Saxon village churches and the old town of Wurzen, whose mill towers can be seen from afar. In general, the water-rich region has numerous mills - and just as many opportunities to take a break in forest pools and at lakes.
