Hike through the fascinating hollow landscape near Grimma via the certified holiday village Höfgen and the grounds of the Nimbschen monastery ruins.

The Stone Path, a themed hiking trail, leads over the Pöppelmann Bridge from the old town of Grimma, parallel to the Mulde River to Höfgen. Hikers pass the town forest, the Rabenstein, which offers a wide view of the river landscape, and the stone cliffs. The path is lined with sculptures by well-known artists. The village of the senses is a real experience with its old farmsteads, orchards and the wild and romantic Mulde. From Höfgen, you take a hand-operated cable ferry to Nimbschen, paving the way past the famous monastery ruins back to the town of Grimma.

Directions

From the train station, the path to the city center leads through the Schwanenteich Park, past the Luther Memorial and the Frauenkirche. Once in the city center, cross the Pöppelmann Bridge to the other side of the Mulde. The path now runs south between the city forest and the Mulde. On the right, you can see Gattersburg Castle and the Grimma suspension bridge. The path runs through the forest along the Langen Grund and finally up the Rabenstein. After a few steps down, the path continues along the Mulde again on an asphalt path until you reach the Schiffsmühle, to the right of the Juttapark. The path "Zur Schiffsmühle" now leads to the Höfgen district. Past the water mill and back towards the Mulde, you now cross over to the western bank. A few steps through the forest, and you soon reach the monastery tavern at Nimbschen Monastery. Between the edge of the forest and the Harthgrundbach, you continue north until you pass the Nimbschener and Colditzer Landstraße. The turnoff to the right leads directly to Gattersburg Castle and back to the starting point via the Swan Pond Park.
