The 20-kilometer-long circular tour takes you to the Collm, the highest elevation in northern Saxony at 312 meters. It is a landmark in the Wermsdorf Forest that can be seen from far away.

This circular hiking trail leads through many wooded areas near Oschatz: the city park, Oschatz city forest, Collmberg and Oschatz church forest. On the Collm, the 18-meter-high Albert Tower, which is freely accessible, offers a wonderful view of the northern Saxon countryside. At the foot of the mountain in the town of Collm, the 1000-year-old lime tree can be admired in the Collm cemetery. It is the oldest lime tree in Saxony, is an impressive 18 meters high and has a trunk circumference of 11 meters.

Directions

The short hike leads from the town center of Oschatz to the deserted Osterland Castle in the town forest. The history of the castle is still not fully understood. The building is described as a "Romanesque hunting palace", was only used in the 13th century and then gradually fell into disrepair. The current remains of the building consist mainly of two 9,60 m high wall stumps and other wall remains. To round off the tour, we recommend a visit to the O-Schatz Park, a free family, animal and leisure park with a coffee pot collection, which was the largest in the world for a time, and a beer garden and café.
