The short hike leads from the town center of Oschatz to the deserted Osterland Castle in the town forest. The history of the castle is still not fully understood. The building is described as a "Romanesque hunting palace", was only used in the 13th century and then gradually fell into disrepair. The current remains of the building consist mainly of two 9,60 m high wall stumps and other wall remains. To round off the tour, we recommend a visit to the O-Schatz Park, a free family, animal and leisure park with a coffee pot collection, which was the largest in the world for a time, and a beer garden and café.
