The starting point for the hike is Hirschplatz, which is known as the central stop for public transport in Wermsdorf. From there, turn into Friedhofstrasse. Along the path, past the hiking car park and the "Tiefen Teich", you come directly to the Collmer footpath. This leads into the Wermsdorf forest, which is known for its hunts. After reaching the edge of the forest, the "Trift" path leads along the foot of the Collm to the hiking car park at the entrance to Collm. Before entering the Wermsdorf forest again, a detour to the center of the town is recommended to visit the church and Saxony's oldest linden tree in the cemetery, which was given the title of "National Heritage Tree" in 2022. The Collm church, a Romanesque hall church, houses the oldest Saxon bell ensemble from the 13th century in its tower. To appreciate the beauty of Saxony's oldest mountain, a climb to the Collm is a good idea. From the 18-meter-high Albert Tower, which is open from April to October, you can enjoy the view of the Dahlen Heath, the Wermsdorf Forest and the Leipzig Basin. On the platform of the observation tower there is a granite column of the "Nagel Triangulation" from 1865. After the descent, the hiking trail continues to the observatory, where information boards provide information about current geophysical events. The trail continues to the Eselsbrunnen and the Carlsteich (Silver Lake), where benches invite you to linger. After a break, the trail continues along the Butterweg back to the Collmer footpath and to Wermsdorf. On the return to Wermsdorf, a visit to the largest baroque hunting lodge complex in Europe, Hubertusburg Castle, is highly recommended.
