Directions

The starting point of the hike is the parking lot at the "Dreibrückenbad" (Three Bridges Baths), located directly on the B6 after entering the town from Leipzig. The route turns north to the right and continues along the promenade, following the route and signage of the Muldental hiking trail, a tourist route towards Nischwitz. On the village street, the trail passes the church, the castle, and the castle park, and then takes the next street to the left. Via Straße der Einheit and Thomas-Müntzer-Ring, a gravel-paved path leads directly to Canitz. Here, it's worth leaving the route, which leads us to the left over a pedestrian bridge over the Mulde River, and taking a detour to Canitz Park, a historic rest area.

After crossing the Mulde Bridge, follow the dirt road. Continue straight ahead for about 400 m, taking the alternative route of the Mulde Cycle Path towards Nepperwitz. Püchau Castle and Castle Park remain on the right, but are definitely worth a visit and can be reached after 1,9 km when leaving the route. Shortly before Nepperwitz, take Püchauer Straße and turn left into the town. Continuing along the alternative route of the Mulde Cycle Path, you will soon reach Grubnitz. In the town, turn right onto Grubnitzer Weg. Following Püchauer Straße, continue left through Deuben, past the Protestant parish church with its Geißler organ. You then reach the B6, turn right, and leave it after 700 m, turning left towards Altenbach.

After the railway underpass, follow the road to the left and then immediately to the right. Pausitzer Straße leads past the Waldsiedlung (forest settlement) and finally into the forest. Turning left onto Karlsallee, the straight forest path leads to the Vorderer Planitzwald (Forest Planitz Forest). Cross Leulitzer Straße and at the next intersection, turn left onto the nature trail toward Schmölen. Along the way, cross Rehberg and Altenbacher Straße. From here, follow the Muldental hiking trail again and pass the village of Schmölen. Via Fährstraße (ferry road), you reach the Mulde ferry.

After crossing the Mulde ferry, the trail turns left and crosses the Dehnitzer Lache, a tributary of the Mulde. From here, it climbs gently to Dehnitz. The Wachtelberg natural monument with its observation tower stretches out on the right. A detour for a view is worthwhile, as is a visit to the Goldenes Tälchen nature trail. Continue left, along Dehnitzer Weg toward Wurzen. The route turns left again onto Damaschkestraße and leads directly to the Mulde and its Mulde weir. Finally, turn right onto the Mulde cycle path and walk along the canal directly to the starting point, the parking lot at the "Dreibrückenbad" (Three Bridges Baths).
