The cycle tour from Döbeln to Großbothen not only delights with its charming landscapes, but also with cultural centers that offer a diverse program. 

The cycle tour from Döbeln to Großbothen runs for approximately 34 kilometers along the idyllic Freiberger Mulde River. In Döbeln, St. Nicolai Church and the historic town hall invite you to explore.

After a few kilometers you reach the impressive Buch Monastery, a former Cistercian monastery that offers farmers' markets and exhibitions, as well as numerous art workshops and readings. In the small town of Leisnig, the imposing Mildenstein Castle towers high above the river and offers magnificent views. The Leisnig Cultural Center also represents a summer of music full of concerts and international artists. 

Another highlight along the route is the romantic Podelwitz moated castle, which invites you to linger with its gastronomy and events such as music evenings and rum tastings.

Directions

The cycle tour to Großbothen begins at Döbeln main station. From the roundabout, the route leads along Lindenstraße and then onto Grimmaische Straße, where you cross the Freiberger Mulde river. Immediately after the bridge, turn left onto the Mulde cycle path and cycle through Großbauchlitz. From here, you follow the course of the Mulde for a good stretch, passing the towns of Technitz, Westewitz, and Scheergrund until you reach the impressive Buch Monastery. There, you cross the bridge over the Mulde and then turn right onto the Mulde cycle path to Leisnig. Passing the imposing Mildenstein Castle, you continue to Tragnitz and Altleisnig, where you cross the Mulde again. After the bridge, keep left towards Wiesenthal. The route now leads via Marschwitz, Tanndorf, and Maaschwitz, always following the river to Erlln. At the end of the town, turn right and follow the path to Kössern. Here you cross the bridge over the Vereinigte Mulde. The cycle path then continues along the riverbank for a while until you finally reach your destination, Großbothen.
