A walk through what is now a mixed deciduous forest, which was created as a game reserve in the 16th century.

The historic Colditz Zoo was established in the 16th century as a game reserve, expanded over the course of around 100 years to become a hunting ground and place of entertainment and artistically equipped, making it one of the oldest and most famous parks in Germany at the time. Today, as a mixed deciduous forest, it invites you to take long walks. The start and end point of this tour is Colditz Castle, one of the largest Renaissance castles in Saxony, which scores points with its eventful history - from the creation of the medieval castle complex to its heyday as a hunting seat of the Saxon electors. A visit is highly recommended.
