The circular route can be wonderfully started at the Leipzig-Mitlitz train station (near Markranstädt). The hiking trail now continues northwards in a clockwise direction. Past Rückmarsdorf and Burghausen, the Lützschena castle park and the Leipzig Auwaldstation are passed. In Lützschena, after a hike of around 13 km, there is the option of taking the S-Bahn back to the centre. Or you can continue the hike via Lindenthal and Wiederitzsch and start the journey back to the city centre at the Neun Messe after a hike of around 24 km. From the Neue Messe, the route goes eastwards along the districts of Mockau, Thekla and Plaußig-Portitz. The Plaußig nature conservation station can be found in Plaußig-Portitz. At Taucha, around 36 km of the total route have now been reached, there is also a train connection here. East of Leipzig, Paunsdorf and Sommerfeld are passed. At Mölkau, there is also a train connection close to the route, and around 46 km have now been completed. Further south, the route passes Holzhausen and Meusdorf, and the path immediately leads into the southern Leipzig Neuseenland. In Markkleeberg, after about 58 km of the route, there is another S-Bahn connection for tired feet. Along the edge of the floodplain forest, the path leads to the northern shore of Lake Cospuden and a little way south along the White Elster until it is crossed. In Knauthain, after about 68 km, there is the option of returning to the city by train. The route now continues west of Leipzig towards Markranstädt and Lausen. Once you arrive at Lake Kulkwitz, you will immediately reach the starting point near Miltitz after about 82 km.
In addition to the train and S-Bahn stations, there are other tram stops along the way to get back to Leipzig city center.
