From Berlin: Private Day Trip to Leipzig by Train or Car

Auf einen Blick

  • Leipzig
  • Städte und Kultur,…

After being picked up at your Berlin hotel by one of our expert guides, you will begin your adventure with a 1.5-hour train ride to Leipzig, or a 2.5-hour drive in a modern, air-conditioned vehicle. You’ll start your tour at the Old Town Hall, a magnificent Gothic structure that dates back to the 16th century, before visiting Auerbach's Keller, a famous restaurant that was featured in Goethe's play ‘Faust’. Stroll through the Mädler Passage, as you admire the upscale boutiques and cafes and onto some of Leipzig’s most beautiful churches, including the St. Thomas Church, the final resting place of Johann Sebastian Bach, and the Nikolai Church, which played a key role in the peaceful protests that helped bring down the Berlin Wall.

Next, you will have an opportunity to discover some of Leipzig's most visited public squares, including Augustus Square, which is home to Leipzig University, and the Krochhochhaus, the city's first high-rise building. See the architectural highlights of the city, including the Speck’s Hof, the Leipzig Opera House, the Städtisches Kaufhaus, and much more!

If you opt to travel by private car, you will also visit sites outside of Leipzig’s city center, including the Monument to the Battle of Nations, the Russian Memorial Church, and the New City Hall. If you opt to travel by train, you may be able to visit the Monument to the Battle of Nations by tram, but please note that public transport tickets will incur an additional charge.

Your guide will be by your side throughout the day, providing commentary, helping you choose the best lunch spots, and answering any questions you may have. At the end of the excursion, you will be driven back to Berlin (circa 2.5 hours) where your guide can give you recommendations to help you enjoy the rest of your holiday!

Please note: if you would like to visit the Runden Ecke Stasi Museum or the Bach Museum, we can organize this for you, but such visits will incur an additional charge and increase the duration of the tour. Likewise, entry fees to the exhibitions at the Battle of Nations are not included in the tour.
