DIMENSIONS Exhibition in Leipzig – Digital Art Meets Industrial Venue

Until 9 July 2023, the new exhibition "DIMENSIONS" will be on show at the Pittlerwerke Leipzig. With 60 works by renowned artists, the exhibition offers a comprehensive insight into digital art on 10,000 square metres under the motto "Digital Art since 1859". International stars of the art scene such as Refik Anadol (Turkish-American media artist) or Lu Yang (Chinese multimedia artist) show works of art from the 19th century to current works and thus combine history and the present in a spectacular way. This creates a unique exhibition experience that makes it tangible how art and technological developments are connected.

Almost 180 years ago, Gustav Albert Lortzing had to leave the city of music. Lortzing was a German composer, librettist, actor, singer and conductor. He is considered the most important representative of the German Spieloper, which is a German-language variant of the Opéra comique. But despite his departure his compositions are inextricably linked with Leipzig and are now returning full of poetry and power – in a countdown to an anniversary year and festival of his works.

Where music is at home: From 10 to 18 September 2022, the Chamber Music festival "Con Spirito" will bring renowned stars of the international scene to perform on Leipzig's stages. Leipzig Region presents 7 Lakes Hike in May 2022

From 6-8 May 2022, it is time for the hiking friends to once again participate at the 7 Lakes Hike in the region around Leipzig. The event organized by Sportfreunde Neuseenland e. V. (Sports Friends New Lake Land Association) offers routes for young and old, for beginners and hiking professionals. Since the hiking routes vary in length, even experienced hikers will get their fill of kilometres here. The shortest route is 11 km (Markkleeberg Tour 2022) and the longest is 107 km (Three-country Tour XXL 2022), which are made available to hikers together with the app Komoot and can also serve as inspiration. Registration for the 7 Lakes Hike is conveniently possible digitally at www.7seen-wanderung.de.

Tübke Monumental: Digital Innovation Meets German Art History at the Kunstkraftwerk Leipzig

With the project "Tübke Monumental", Kunstkraftwerk Leipzig presents a completely new approach to one of the most important artists in German art history from 11 March to 31 December 2022. Werner Tübke (1929-2004) studied at the Academy of Visual Arts (HGB) in Leipzig and later belonged to the so-called “Leipzig School”. Known for his panoramic painting "Early Civil Revolution in Germany", he worked for a total of eleven years from conception to completion on this work of art, which is now based in Bad Frankenhausen in Thuringia. With an area of 14 x 123 metres, it is the largest painting in Central Europe.
