The perfect shopping trip to Leipzig!

If you ask us where the best shopping is in Leipzig, we can say without hesitation: the city centre! There are countless shops and a unique network of arcades with beautiful stores as well as shopping malls such as the Höfe am Brühl or the PROMENADEN at Leipzig Central Station.

As the saying goes, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach – so Leipzig is the perfect place to take your partner, family or best friends! You can enjoy a meal with a view across Leipzig from 129 metres up, gaze at the old town hall over a glass of wine and try some Saxon specialities in a former market courtyard or station building as well as embarking on a culinary discovery tour away from the inner city to taste some creative or vegan dishes in the breathtaking atmosphere of bygone industrial times.

In Leipzig, you're never far from afternoon coffee and cake. The locals here are known as "Coffee Saxons" and we know why. There is a long tradition of coffee house culture in Leipzig that can still be experienced today in the city at numerous cafes, ranging from cosy coffee rooms that have been here for decades to younger cafes serving lattes in black, gold or pink as well as espresso coffee.
Get inspired and enjoy the taste!

Leipzig's lakes and waterways

Both city tours and beach holidays are possible in Leipzig! On warm summer days, it is just a short bicycle ride to the bathing lakes all around the city. Lovingly known by the locals as "Cossi, Kulki and Co", the lakes cater for your every wish. Leipzig's New Lake District is one of the largest areas of interconnected lakes in Europe and awaits you with excellent water quality, sandy beaches in the sun, grassy banks in the shade, adrenalin kicks at the wakeboarding and rafting facilities, numerous places to hire boats and SUPs as well as delicious cafes, restaurants and bistros!

You don't even have to leave the city to spend your romantic short break in Leipzig on the water. There is a good reason why our favourite city of Leipzig is also known as "little Venice" More than 400 bridges cross the city's rivers and canals – waterways where you can go on a particularly special sightseeing tour by paddleboat.

One thing is for sure: when visiting Leipzig, you will need to pack your swimming trunks!

  • Beach feeling at the bathing lakes

  • "Venice vibes" on Leipzigs canals

  • Paddleboats versus Motorboats

  • Wild water rafting, surfing, diving and having fun on a stand-up paddle board
