Altleisniger church in Polditz

Church
The Evangelical Lutheran church of St. Nicolai in Polditz was rebuilt on a higher site after the former church in Altleisnig burned down in 1865.
Due to a lack of maintenance, the spire was removed during the GDR era and the building was threatened with decay, but dedicated parishioners secured and extensively renovated it from 1987. The church houses a historic organ built by organ builder Friedrich Ladegast in 1868, which was restored in 1996/97 and has 33 stops. Today, the church not only serves as a parish church, but is also a venue for concerts and cultural events.
