Cycling tours and cycle paths in the Leipzig Region

The circular routes and regional main cycle routes are particularly well suited for an active day trip by bike. 

The themed cycle routes cover exciting topics such as the changing landscape of the region on the COAL | STEAM | LIGHT | LAKES Cycle Route or a refreshingly fruity change of scenery in Saxony’s largest fruit-growing region on the Obstland Cycle Route. 

A popular destination for cyclists is the Leipzig New Lakeland, which with the New Lakeland Cycle Route definitely promises one thing: lakes as far as the eye can see. Cooling off on hot summer days is therefore a must.

The Leipzig Region is especially easy to explore extensively and in several stages by bike on the long-distance cycle routes . 

Over around 400 kilometres, the long-distance Mulde Cycle Route takes you through a varied river landscape along the three branches of the Mulde, through dense forests and wide fields, and past historic towns, castles, palaces and monasteries. A real insider tip!

The Mulde Cycle Route along the Freiberger Mulde also connects to the Zschopau Valley Cycle Route, which runs from Technitz to Frankenberg and then continues on into the Ore Mountains. A detour to the Kriebstein Dam with Kriebstein Castle, Saxony’s most beautiful knight’s castle, is well worth it here. 

Germany’s best-known long-distance cycle route - the Elbe Cycle Route - also runs west of the Elbe through the Leipzig Region.
