A visit to the ‘Runde Ecke’ Memorial Museum, the Zeitgeschichtliches Forum Leipzig, or the Museum of Fine Arts Leipzig is always worthwhile. You can also gather fascinating impressions in the surrounding region, for example in the newly designed permanent exhibition “Courage and Powerlessness” at the Erinnerungsort Torgau or at the Stasi Bunker Museum in Machern.

After an impressive museum visit or an extensive shopping tour, you can warm up and get comfortable in one of the many cafés. Time to head somewhere warm!

Excursions to the Leipzig region are worthwhile even during the dark and cold season. There are varied hiking trails and walks that offer fairytale-like views.

Our insider tips

  • A beautiful fairy-tale landscape can truly be found in Schlosspark Lützschena, with its well-kept paths and attention to detail.

  • Not far from Leipzig’s city centre lies Clara-Zetkin-Park. It becomes especially beautiful in winter when the White Elster begins to freeze over.

  • Another highlight is the Lake Zwenkau. From there, a circular trail stretches out that invites you to hike and explore. Afterwards, you can relax with friends in a café or restaurant at Cape Zwenkau.

  • A slightly different way to relax is through fasting hikes in Bad Lausick, where the body's natural self-healing powers are stimulated. Recharge your energy and activate your body, mind, and soul.
