You can marvel at gigantic 360° panoramas, immerse yourselves in immersive exhibitions, experience white-water fun or go on an animal safari. You can also enjoy plenty of leisure fun with minigolf, climbing or archery.

Pack your swimwear when the temperatures rise, because the Leipzig New Lakeland offers a wide range of water sports activities. Whether on passenger ships or motorboats, in an inflatable or paddle boat or simply going swimming – there are no limits to the fun you can have on the water here.

The Düben and Dahlen Heaths and the hilly region east of Leipzig, on the other hand, offer ideal conditions for extended cycling and hiking tours, for example on the Luther Trail Saxony or the Mulde Cycle Route. Hiking: The journey is the destination

Going on extensive hikes and exploring exciting trails? The Leipzig Region offers you plenty of opportunities to do just that.

A must for nature-loving hikers is the Heide-Biber-Tour. The 30-kilometre-long, multi-certified quality hiking trail leads from Bad Düben through almost untouched flora and fauna to Bad Schmiedeberg.

Throughout the Leipzig Region, ecological stations and forest education centres clearly demonstrate the relationship between people and the forest. Forest hikes with a forester and events such as "Wild Animal Sunday", where you can explore the natural habitats of beavers or cranes, are especially popular with young and old alike.

Out and about by bike

Leipzig is a city where everything is close by and is waiting for you to explore it. Cycling is the perfect choice for this. For example, you can take a bike tour through the Leipzig Riverside Forest − one of the largest continuous floodplain forest areas in Europe. Or you can cycle along the water. There are plenty of waterside cycle paths in "Little Venice", as the Pleiße, Parthe and White Elster rivers flow right through the city here.

You can also start a trip to the Leipzig Region directly from the city centre, or simply take the S-Bahn for the first stretch into the area surrounding Leipzig. Numerous cycle trails are waiting for you here. Exciting cycle tours are promised by, among others, the Elbe Cycle Route near Belgern, the themed route Coal-Steam-Light-Lakes Cycle Route or the long-distance cycle route Mulde Cycle Route.

Tip: In the MDV area, you can take your bike on all local trains and S-Bahn trains free of charge.

Water fun

Whether you want to take leisurely paddle tours on the waterways or try out the latest water sports trends on the lakes - in the Leipzig region, all of this is possible without having to travel far.

The tourist waterway network, which connects the cultural city of Leipzig with the surrounding lakes, is especially popular with water lovers. Here, you can explore the city and its surroundings on family-friendly water touring routes from a canoe or rowboat. For those who like it action-packed , there are options such as kitesurfing, white-water rafting at Kanupark Markkleeberg or wakeboarding. Water sports enthusiasts can also go diving, sailing or simply swimming.

Discover the lakes, waterways, the Mulde river and Elbe River in a relaxed way on a trip with a passenger boat or motorboat and listen to the captains’ stories over a cup of coffee and cake. In bad weather, numerous leisure pools in the Leipzig region offer fun and wellness activities for relaxation, while the little ones can splash around to their heart’s content.
